OTR Tire Recovery: When the End is Just a New Beginning

What looks like the end of an OTR tire — from mining, agribusiness, or construction — is, for Vulcaflex, just the start of a new service life. Through steel cable replacement technology, we’re able to restore tires that, by conventional methods, would be considered irreparable.

How the restoration works

The repair consists of strategically replacing the damaged steel cables in the carcass with a brass-coated cable ply, sized to fit each tire dimension. This process restores the tire’s original structural integrity, flexibility, sealing, and strength — qualities essential for operations that can’t afford to stop.

We offer two complementary approaches:

  • Cable replacement: a complete reconstruction of the damaged area, which becomes a true structural part of the tire.
  • External cable reinforcement: a preventive solution that strengthens the structure, allowing the tire to keep running even on the front axle.

Performance for demanding operations

We are the exclusive Latin American distributor of Regigant/Vulcan Vulcap technology, using brass-coated steel cables that offer superior resistance to punctures and external forces. It’s a solution built for the daily reality of mining and agribusiness, where every hour of downtime carries a real cost.

Properly executed, this repair is designed to last as long as the carcass’s full service life — it’s not a patch, it’s a genuine restoration.

The economic weight of a new tire

An OTR tire, especially in the sizes used in mining and large equipment, represents one of the most significant investments in a fleet’s operating costs. Prematurely replacing a tire that could still run for hundreds of hours means tying up capital that could go toward other areas of the operation.

By recovering rather than discarding, a company preserves part of the value already invested, extends the tire’s service life, and postpones — or avoids altogether — a new investment. Multiplied across an entire fleet, that gain translates into a real reduction in cost per ton hauled.

Sustainability as an ESG strategy

Every recovered tire is a tire that avoids premature disposal — carrying direct weight in the ESG agendas of construction sites, farms, and mining operations. Reducing the disposal of a large, slow-to-decompose item contributes to concrete environmental targets and strengthens governance around the responsible use of an operation’s resources.

Beyond a cost advantage, recovering OTR tires connects productivity and responsibility: fewer tires headed for disposal, less raw-material extraction for replacements, and greater efficiency per hour of machine operation.

Our technology safely recovers up to 40% of tires previously considered unserviceable, covering everything from truck tires to giants with a 63″ rim.

Knowledge that builds trust

Beyond supplying materials and equipment, Vulcaflex trains people. With more than 35 years of experience in truck and OTR tire repair, we run certification programs tailored to each client and sector — on-site, at our own facilities, or online. Every certified team returns to the field with the autonomy and confidence to handle complex repairs.

Our commitment

We understand that behind every recovered tire is an operation that needs to keep running — and a financial and environmental outcome that needs to make real sense. That’s why we bring together technology, training, and hands-on experience to turn what looked like waste into productivity, savings, and environmental responsibility, with the confidence of someone who knows the subject well, but always with a hand extended to help you go further while spending less.
